In the summer of 2017 I began working at The Hub Teen Center as the Development Director. The Hub is a development center for at-risk youth in the Jackson area; what drew me to this organization was the passion exhibited by the staff and by the Executive Director, Ben Redmond. Working as the Development Director was a great exercise in writing--it's the skill I use the most in this position. Whether it's creating copy for programs or crafting a newsletter, my work at The Hub has been defined by my writing.
Intro to Photography Copy
The Hub provides opportunities for Jackson teens that they may not otherwise get. Our courses are typically based on volunteer availability and interest, and in May of 2017 a local photographer decided to partner with us to create an Intro to Photography course. As one facet of my job, I spearhead all external communications; most times the programs or announcements don't have copy, so I write it myself. This is one such example.
