ing Magazine 2016
During my coursework for my Professional Writing degree, I took a class called Managing Publication Projects. The project we were managing was the student-run ing Magazine. This class was a brief window into the world of publishing: each month, students would rotate through the different roles of a publication board. Below are the published pieces I wrote for the October and February issues of ing Magazine.

Leap Year: Traditions and SuperstitionsFor this issue of ing, I chose to write about the history of Leap Day. As I was researching, the piece became more about leap years and the history and traditions associated with them more so than the singular day. I was given a full spread for this issue, so I was able to write about my research to the fullest. As with my other articles, my piece went through two rounds of edits and was then published in the February issue on page 17.

DIY: Creative Cards, Letters of LoveFor the February issue, I chose to write about lesser-known holidays. February 7th is Send a Card to a Friend Day, and it's the perfect occasion to send someone some snail mail. For this article, I gave step-by-step directions to creating a wonderful, handmade card for the holiday. This article is featured in the February issue on page 6.

Five Sensationally Spooky Podcasts Guaranteed to Give You ShiversFor October, I was part of the writing team, so I decided to write about some podcasts to listen to during the spooky season. Podcasts are the perfect entertainment for commuting around campus, and there are so many podcasts that deal in the spookier side of storytelling. Scary stories are a must for the spooky season, and I wanted to share these stories with our readers.

ABC Family Presents 13 Nights of HalloweenFor our October issue, we needed a short blurb on ABC Family's annual Halloween special 13 Nights of Halloween. This article was designed to be a quick update on the program schedule.
